[Tuesday, October 7th. 7:30 PM] [When last we left our heroes, they had just steamrolled a bunch of Roman soldiers. As Eternal Warrior skirmished with the Centaurion, and American Dream battled with Panzermensch, the heroes helped get civilians out of the battle zone.] * Ardweden has left #tlb [Their efforts were interrupted by the arrival (or was here there the whole time?) of the infamous Disco Ninja. After a bit of gratuitous flattery, he disappeared in a blur, and now ten identical copies of him have encircled the team.] [They seem to be holding their hustle poses, however, and haven't yet attacked. How will the team respond to this rather odd set of circumstances?] [Session Start] * Horus must not like being surrounded, because she takes to the air, shooting up a good thirty feet. * Christian hehs as he backs towards the rest of the group, tensing his fists and looking at the ninjas. "Guess that's one way to even the odds. It's either two a piece or we take 'em all at once." * Mizuki is surrounded, but it's by her fire kami as well. * TheRedcoat continues to curse, switching to other languages now, while grapple-hooking the nearest lamppost with her sash and tossing her hat at them again. * Mizuki glances about and replies, "It does not look particularly even." Yeah, you're right. He's outnumbered 5 to 10. * Jacqueline 's gun is humming gently as she surveys the array of ninjas on her many goggle displays. "The sooner they can be herded together..." * TheRedcoat lands lightly on top of the post again, and lets out a final curse in what might be Turkish as the fedora barely misses her chosen two targets? [Yup. Disco Ninjas 1 and 2 smoothly dodge out of the way in the midst of a dance move.] [Meanwhile, a funky disco beat starts playing out of nowhere, and the ten ninjas surrounding you sway to the music. "Can you feel it? Can you feel the fever of the disco beat deep within you? Give in to the power of the disco fever!"] [Innocent bystanders quickly fall under the sway of the Disco Ninja's awesome powers, and start enthusiastically dancing through the streets with surprising skill and grace.] * Horus blinks. "What in the fuck?" Despite her saying so, she starts dancing... er, in the air, making with the funky disco moves. "GAH." * Christian starts swaying his hips to the funky beat and fighting his own hands. He's gritting his teeth and tries to hold his own arm, while his other goes into disco pose. "What the fuck is right. I'm gonna give that guy a fuckin' disco inferno." * Christian does just that, twisting to the funky dance moves as he becomes a blur himself. He ends in a Travolta with his finger and fist up in the air but manages to whiff in front of the ninja he's aiming for. [Indeed, that Ninja #1 is a slippery fellow, and manages to do a split to avoid Christian's attack.] * Jacqueline has at some point taken to spinning in place, and she's trying /not/ to revel in the unnatural dextrousness with which she's doing so. The goggles help so very much; her eyes being hidden is definitely good. Finally, the spinning comes to an abrupt halt with a little jump that sees her planting her feet, throwing her gun into the air in the appropriate Hustle pose, and pulling the trigger. Lasers stream all around her for a moment before racing out towards three of the ninjas. [Ninjas #1-3 do a quick spin, and the lasers go streaking by them. "I need to get one of those to put in my disco ball!"] * Horus flies even higher, aligning herself with the sun, and spreads her wings. Everything seems to get brighter, and the heroes actually feel as if gods really are on their side... even though Horus happens to be a dancing goddess in this instance. Ah well. [All ten ninjas look up as they dance. "And one of those! You go, girlfriend! Shake what your momma gave you!"] * Horus calls down, "You wish you could have some of this!" ["Damn right!"] * Mizuki closes her eyes, seemingly unmoved by the disco rhythm. Her staff glows as she says, and then her eyes snap open as she gestures with her staff towards #8. "... with rhythms that do not touch the heart! My fiery allies, your foe is there!" * TheRedcoat stands up from her crouch and boogies in place, but that doesn't stop her from whipping out a Glock and tossing off a shot at the ninja Mizuki just pointed to. * Mizuki 's kami all giggle as one as they roll towards 8, bunching up into a tight ball of balls of fire before leaping, as one, towards that particular Disco Ninja. For a moment, they whoosh brighter. [The eyes of #8 go wide, and he just barely gets out the way as a horde of Fire Kami try to dogpile him.] * Mizuki smiles slyly as her eyes turn to him. "I have met ninja far more frightening than you. Do not assume." [Mizuki can see the ninja grin back through his white mask. "But I've met few women hotter. Yeow."] * TheRedcoat frowns as the boogieing seems to interfere with her aim and the shot goes wide. Her trusty fedora, though, swings around to its target and destroys it. [One of the ninjas blinks out of existence as Redcoat's hat passes through it, but the real one easily sidesteps her shot. "Yes, girl! Work that pole!"] [All of the ninjas disappear in a blur, and suddenly all of you find yourself attacked up close and personal!] * Jacqueline 's wildly twisting lasers are still flying in spite of missing, and while they'll be going back out shortly... they first spend some time orbitting the scientist's body as she twirls out of the way of a punch, illuminating her beautifully. She's not caught up in the vibe anymore, but it's so much more fun this way. * Horus 's eyes widen as a ninja appears before her and just barely has time to wreathe herself in flames (as she does a disco shuffle back) as she gets kicked right in the jaw. She summersaults backwards and floats, rubbing at her face with a grimace. [Redcoat gets kneed in the gut, and as she reels back and almost falls off the pole Disco Ninja grabs her, pulls her back up, then dips her. "Yeah, reach out there baby! I'LL BE THERE!"] [He then disappears again, and the nine remaining ninjas whirl around the lot of you before reappearing, still surrounding the group.] * Mizuki takes a punch, it connecting with her glowing form, and she tsses slightly through her teeth. "Your deceptions will not get you far." * TheRedcoat growls and lashes out with a punch, but he's already gone. * Christian grits his teeth as he takes the punch right in the kidneys and then looks around wildly while dancing while the ninja disappear. He clenches his jaw. "Just about had it with you, ya fuckin' prick..." He electric slides at full speed over the ninja's way and then half-splits as he slams his purple-enveloped fist into the ground, creating a huge rumble and crater around him, the shockwave slamming with the impact *much* harder than before. [Whoops, that one got him. Disco Ninja gets knocked to the ground as he's buffeted by waves of force, and goes skidding head-first into a parking meter.] * Christian looks up from his splits. "There's the one!" * Jacqueline throws her arms out wide for dramatic effect as her lasers race through Ninjas 1 and 2, and then she finally stops moving for good so that she can take aim at the real deal and fire another twisty barrage in his direction. [Fake Ninjas 1 and 2 disappear, but the real one manages to regain his wits in time to avoid Jacky's laser, which goes streaking off into a building.] * Horus twirls in the air, materializes her bow, and fires a burning flaming arrow of light (but definitely not love) to the disco beat. [Disco Ninja twirls around that as well. "Cupid's arrow, my dear girl? I'm touched!"] You are such a fucking JACKASS! * Mizuki looks to the identified target and whispers, lowly, "Give it our all, my flaming allies, for there is no other day." The swarm of flames rolls in kind before they all bound towards him, an intense inferno! [Disco Ninja gets caught up in the heat of the dance himself as the fire kami swarm all over him, burning him all over and ruining his nice white suit. Aww.] * TheRedcoat puts back the gun and sends the fedora flying again, as well as the sash, going for the obviously real DN. [DN gets cut on the shoulder by the hat and whipped across the thigh with the sash. "I thought we had something special, baby!" He disappears in a blur again, and once again you all suddenly find him in close range, about to attack!] * Horus ducks the punch to her jaw this time, since she's not stuck dancing. "Just got that one trick? Feel fuckin' sorry for your girl... if ya managed to land one in the first place." [A punch from him goes through Jacky's FF and catches her in the gut, and as she stumbles back he catches her and pulls her close. "Don't know why don't know why don't know why... I can't get enough of your love, baby!"] [He then disappears, and you now find yourself surrounded by five identical ninjas!] * Jacqueline is doing her very best to get her gun nestled in against the ninja gripping her, but he's soon gone, and she's left with nothing more than a sore stomach and a dimmed force field. * Mizuki deflects the ninja punch with her staff, looking to his eyes for that split moment before glancing around. * TheRedcoat gets hit with a nasty kick to the back of the head while recovering from tossing out the sash. Ouch. * Christian gets a kick to the back of the head and ends up with his head in the concrete. "Why you..." He tries to detect the ninjas but can't seem to figure out who is who so goes running for the nearest one with his arm outstretched. Unfortunately, he seems to be too obvious and puts his arm out too early, making it pretty easy to spot. [DN dodges Christian easily. "Ole! Your moves need work, you sexy boy you!"] * Jacqueline 's lasers are spiralling from the tip of her gun once she's righted herself, sadly /without/ any magically girlish SFX. [DN dodges that too, but it's a closer call! "Miss Hyde, I'm so glad to see you care enough to send the very best!"] * Horus surveys the field, then takes off, firing another bolt of light at one of the ninjas as she swoops for Redcoat. This time, her aim is true, and it lances cleanly through him. [DN really should be focusing more, because that catches him clean through the chest. He's looking worse for wear, but he's still standing. "My dear, you wound me!"] * Mizuki 's eyes fix on the lanced one, and she cries out, "Kami, to him with all your fury!" They roll with glee and giggling, trying to swarm him again! * Horus mutters, "That's not even a fucking disco ref." She hovers before Redcoat and spreads her wings, blocking view of the other hero. "Y'holdin' up okay?" she asks over her shoulder as wind steadies Redcoat slightly. [DN just barely dives out of the way as Mizuki's kami come rushing at him; for obvious reasons, he's not eager to repeat that experience.] * TheRedcoat glares at DN. "I certainly hope so--AAAoh," she says, as Horus comes at her and then stops. * TheRedcoat nods curtly to Horus, clearing her throat a tad, and whips out her sash at Disco Ninja, going for a throttle-and-hold. I'm--I will be fine. [DN gets caught around the neck with the sash, and Redcoat manages to jerk him around by the neck and choke him for a few seconds. But then her sash goes limp as he disappears out of it... and suddenly all five ninjas are spinning around you. As they move faster and faster, flames start trailing after them, and you can feel waves of heat as the whirlwind increases in speed. Suddenly, the whirlwind breaks, and you all find a fiery DN in your faces, attacking. "DISCO INFERNO! FEEL THE HEAT!"] * TheRedcoat faces a fiery Disco Ninja while getting kneed hard in the back by him! And oofs! She's too hurt even to grr! * Horus hisses through her teeth at the whirlwind and raises her arms, fire flickering to life around her and then outward, extending Redcoat in its glow. Too bad she didn't think to look behind her while she was doing it, because she lets out a surprised and pained yelp as one of the Disco Ninjas knees her in the back. * Mizuki uses the staff like aikido, slipping to the side of the fiery uppercut. [The five remaining ninjas reform in a circle around you.] * Christian leans back as the foot to the jaw whiffs overhead and lifts it just after the ninja goes poof, running at the nearest one and going for another grab, He manages to whiff and crunches up his fist. "Damn snake is slipperier than a fuckin' sewer rat covered in hobo piss." * Jacqueline 's nose is certainly sore, after being hit so directly, and that's probably contributing to her not angling things well enough to point her homing lasers as they deserve to be; more spirals from the gunbarrel to no real effect. [DN dances around those two attacks. "You all aren't half bad, but as long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive!"] * TheRedcoat is not showing much skin/expression, but is breathing heavily and stooping over, almost in spite of herself. "That" *pant* "sounds" *pant* "highly disgusting." It is. Trust me. * Horus scans the group of ninjas, then fires another bolt of light at one, more or less at random. She doesn't look happy, amused, pleased, or anything else that's even remotely pleasant. [Horus destroys one of the fake ninjas! There's only four left in total!] * Mizuki shakes her head, and then gestures with her staff towards another ninja, but the kami don't seem to move with the same force as last time, making it easier to dodge. * TheRedcoat 's pain seems to be sharpening her focus...or maybe it's the sheer power of her hate at this point. She flicks her sash out at one of the ninjas, muttering "that one," and throttles him with it for a bit. "Hold still." And she takes out her Glock again with the other hand and lets a shot fly. [Redcoat manages to figure out which one is the real DN, and he's obviously a bit surprised as he gets grabbed by the throat, throttled, and then shot in the side. He's looking close to dropping now, but the four remaining ninjas start to blur once again, and again our heroes find themselves facing attacks from all directions!] * TheRedcoat seems to be catching something of a second(/third/fourth) wind, as she manages to dodge a punch in the face this time, mussing neither hair nor hat nor glasses of sun. * Christian shifts to the side at high speed as well, as a knee whizzes past him, almost hitting his hair. [Horus takes an elbow behind the ear, and suddenly finds DN behind her, chin on her shoulder. "You're the first, the last, my everything!" He then disappears, and the circle of 4... well, it's really more of a square now... reforms.] * Horus clutches her head in pain, bobbing in the air where the Disco Ninja left her. * Jacqueline frowns deeply as she presses the heel of her palm to her aching sternum, and otherwise does the best she can to follow the bouncing reticles. * Mizuki 's staff doesn't help her this time, her moving slightly in the air as she takes a more substantial hit. She continues to look around warily, eyes catching the people who are more down, now. * Christian whizzes by the ninja again and again grasps air. "Jesus *Christ*." [DN dances aside. "No, just a humble Disco Ninja!"] Humble my ass. * Jacqueline 's beams are still for the most part doing more collateral damage than good, which she more or less minds. [DN pelvic thrusts out of the way of that blast. Now he's just showing off.] * Horus looks around blearily, then shakes her head, winces again, and waves her hand. "GOT you, fucker!" A column of golden light and fire roars up from beneath one of the ninja's feet, bursting high into the heavens. [And that's what showing off gets you - burned with fire. DN takes that hard, and falls to his knees. He struggles to his feet... then blurs, and suddenly you're surrounded by a ten identical ninjas again.] * Christian grits his teeth. "Ain't gonna fight us man to man, eh pussy? Fuckin' chicken shit ninja." * Mizuki nods slightly, preparing for her Kami to move on the target... only to have the target disappear on her. She says something under her breath in Japanese, then tells Christian, with slight annoyance, "Ninjas and honor do not go together." * Christian lets out a big sigh. "Too fuckin' true in that regard. How you holdin' up?" * Jacqueline slowly exhales, mutters, "Simply a different kind of honor," then raises her thrumming and glowing gun towards three of the fresh illusions. * Horus sees the new ninja split, and she screams with anger and frustration, the stone in her mask exploding into a blinding light. Poor Redcoat, being behind her. * TheRedcoat sways a little, then catches herself, growls under her breath, and goes for the hat and the sash. "Not. Again." [The ten ninjas start again move more quickly than the eye can see, darting to and fro around you, and then charging in to attack!] [... except that they all pass right through you and disappear. As you process that, you spot Disco Ninja on a rooftop, hustle posing. "Disco Never Dies!" And then he runs off.] * Horus glares at him, and she flaps her wings once before rocketing after the fleeing Disco Ninja. * Christian grits his teeth, clenching his fist hard enough for his knuckles to turn white, then growls out. "AAUUGH!" His fist glows as he punches the side of the building and takes out a decent chunk of the corner bricks with it. * Mizuki flies up in a small spiral, to see how ran off he really is, yes. * TheRedcoat THROWS the hat at where DN was standing and growls again, more audibly this time. "If I have something to say about it, it *will*." [He gone.] * TheRedcoat catches the hat as it flies back to her, puts it back on her head, and wraps the sash around the lamppost and uses it to slide down slowly before undoing it. * Christian starts panting a bit hard as he holds onto the side of the building. Looks like running that fast took a lot out of him. He then calms himself down a bit and glances Redcoat and Jackie's way. "You doin' okay?" * Mizuki peers a moment, glances to Horus not-quite-breaking the Sound Barrier, then sighs tiredly and floats down to the group. "He did... quite a number on us. I cannot keep up with an Eagle, though." [Horus catches sight of DN *way* off in the distance, moving far faster than she can hope to match.] * Mizuki moves nearer to the more damaged of the group and says, "I can staunch the worst of your wounds... more easily if you were to get nearer." * Horus returns in a blur, landing on the ground messily and rolling to her feet. "Fucker's movin' too fuckin' fast... ow. Dammit." Made us look like fuckin' tools...god. Last Horus always hated fightin' him, and now I fucking know WHY. [Everyone but Christian remembers the other fights going on, and turns down the street. EW and Centaurion are out of sight, but they can see Panzermensch smack AD into a building. And hey, it kinda seems like he's spotted you guys and is charging. "ACHTUNG PANZER!"] * TheRedcoat squints and glares at him. "Horus! Can you blind him!" * Horus grimaces, but she struggles to her feet and raises her hands to the mech. "'ll do my best, Redcoat!" she yells back as white light surrounds her. * Mizuki sees the charge, and wastes no more time, raising her staff to the skies and glowing brightly, suffusing the area with healing light as she says, "We cannot afford to fall yet! Let your souls stand strong, and your bodies follow!" * Horus holds steady, and light condenses around her hands, then shoots unerringly for the Panzermensch's cockpit. * TheRedcoat meanwhile dashes to one side of the road and lets her sash whip out to go around the base of a lamppost across the way. She then ties off the sash to a nearby lamppost base as best she can, while everyone else does their thing. [Panzermensch charges right through the attack, his armor only lightly scorched, and evidently not bothered by the flash of light.] * Christian crouches down and leaps over the charging mech, landing behind him to make a clear path for the tripline. * Jacqueline 's camera is in hand as the suggestion to blind the German is made, and as she mutters, "Yes, blind it... do as you please..." she's fiddling at high speeds with the device's controls. Finally, she seems to have gotten things to her liking, because without looking she points it in the mech's direction and hits the shutter. * Jacqueline turns to observe after that, as the Eternal Warrior appears behind Panzermensch, bellowing, "Come! Come and face my divinely inspired might!" and clutching his axe readily. [Panzermensch seems determined to get at you guys, or he doesn't believe the illusion, because he keeps charging. He blows right through Redcoat's tripline, ripping the lampposts out of the ground and nearly dropping one onto Redcoat before she dodges out of the way.] [Christian's jump attempt is ill-advised, though, as Panzermensch leaps high into the air himself, grabs Christian out of the air, and slams him to the ground hard enough to make you all lose your balance for a moment, leaving a huge crater in the ground.] * Jacqueline falls to the ground, glowers - at the illusion, not the German - and shoves the camera back into her pocket. * Horus stumbles, but she manages to not collapse thanks to Mizuki's healing. * Christian 's eyes widen as the Panzer comes at him. "What the fuck?" He gets caught in mid leap and slammed on the ground which bruises him severely. Miraculously he can still get up from it but he doesn't look near as pretty anymore. * Mizuki does no real reacting, because she's busy trying to get that heal thing to finish. [Panzermensch gets up, and turns to the rest of you... only to reel back as Eternal warrior digs his axe into his side. Panzermensch starts sparking, and fluids begin to leak from him as he stumbles away; with a series of curses in German, he disappears in a puff of smoke.] [Eternal Warrior takes a deep breath, then looks at you all. "Didn't we tell you not to engage Panzermensch?" He walks over to Christian and offers him a hand up. "Are you able to stand, young warrior?"] * Horus jumps to the air and disappears into something of a blur, reappearing by Christian - she doesn't stumble at her landing this time, hovering nearby. * TheRedcoat comes up from the cover she had taken after dodging the lamppost. "*We* didn't engage *him." * Mizuki 's energy reaches a crescendo, and everyone can feel some of their wounds and aches simply fading away. * TheRedcoat cracks her neck and back at that one. "...that was...nice. Thank you." Red's right. Fucker was chargin' right for us. You okay, Christian? * Jacqueline brushes herself off as she stands, notes, "Thank you for finding your way towards being marginally worthwhile. Keep a better eye on your opponents." ["You did not run with every ounce of speed your worn bodies could muster, either, which would have bee- nevermind. You are all alive. Lesson learned."] * TheRedcoat squints behind EW. "Speaking of which..." She's looking for Centaurion. * Horus glares at the Eternal Warrior and looks like she's about to say something, then thinks better of it. * Christian stands up slowly with EW's hand. "I was tryin' to get out of the fuckin' way.." He lets out a deep breath. "I'm fine. Thanks." * Mizuki smiles a bit at Redcoat, then sighs slightly and says, "It will have to do." Her kami crowd up around her, and she smiles a bit, before murmuring to them in Japanese, [EW nods at Christian, then turns to Redcoat. "I have vanquished the Centaurian once again. For now, the threat is over."] * Mizuki 's kami make giggling noises before rolling away, becoming less 'motive' and more 'I found some rubble to burn! Hooray!' * TheRedcoat turns away, semi-in Jackie's direction, and rolls her eyes a little. [As he says that, the crowd of civilians from down the blocks starts coming towards you all. You can hear murmurs of 'Who are they?' 'Isn't that Horus?' 'I thought Horus was a dude?' 'Wasn't she a villain?' 'Who fucking cares? They saved us!'] * TheRedcoat sees the people coming, winces, and kind of twitches a little. "Are we done here?" [A fashionable young woman walks up to Redcoat. "I simply must know where you got that coat! And that hat! That sash! It would be perfect for my fall collection!"] * Mizuki looks a bit surprised at the fashionable young woman, before hiding a smile behind the mirror on the end of her staff. * Christian grins slightly as he turns to Horus. "I look better than you do. You look like fuckin' hell." * TheRedcoat BACKS THE FUCK UP, back to EW's direction again. "Because if so, I think I have a few...dozen...pressing engagements." * Horus rolls her eyes. "Shoulda gotten a good look at me *before* Mizuki's magic hit." I swear I was five seconds from dead. [EW grins. "Not used to the adulations of the masses, hmm?" Meanwhile, an older black woman with her teenage son walks up to Horus. "So you're the new Horus, hmm? The original was a major figure in the community; it's good to see you're living up to his name."] * Christian sighs and adjusts his gloves. "Probably were. Okay. So this whole teamwork thing. We've gotta work on it, yeah?" I rather thought that...what we originally were intending to do...was rather higher on the list of priorities. I'll let you be with your fans though. * Horus nods to Christian. She turns to the woman and smiles, hiding the pain she's still in. "Yeah. I've been active for a while now. Got some big boots to fill, y'know?" [The teenage son chimes in. "Ma, you're just glad she's not white, 'cause that'd be a Horus of a different col-" He's interrupted when his mom smacks him upside the head. "Show some respect, boy!"] Dude, just be glad I'm not a villain or I totally would have exploded you for that. [Meanwhile, an young woman walks up to Christian, slips a piece of paper in a pocket of his jacket, and winks at him before walking off. "Call me, studly."] [The mother drags her son off by the collar, apologizing to Horus as she does.] * Mizuki just floats a little in the air, in their midst. She murmurs something to herself in Japanese. * Christian calls out to Jackie. "Yo. Got a better name for the team than you've got nicknames for me?" He then glances at the woman and just stares. He seems more surprised than interested, amazingly. [EW shrugs. "The morale of the masses is as important as anything we do. Give them a moment. They want to honor you; let them."] [An older Italian man, meanwhile, walks over to Mizuki. "Real nice, lady. Thanks." He pauses, and motions to the where the just-departed fire kami were. "... mind bringinf them back so I can get a light?"] * TheRedcoat just shakes her head and stalks off around a corner. ( EDIT Italian guy asked her to bring the kami back so he could get a light ) * Christian takes out his own cigarette and flicks his lighter, leaning against the side of a lamppost now. [EW shakes his head, then moves forward to get the crowd's attention. "Hail, citizens! These proud warriors have been through a tremendous battle, and need to rest for their next battle. We must depart!"] * Mizuki looks at him oddly, frowns a touch, and then... pulls out a lighter of her own. She says, quietly, "You can ask the favor of me, but not of them; they have done enough." * TheRedcoat pokes her head back around the corner as she hears EW talking, smoke curling out of her mouth. [The man gets a light from Mizuki, and grins. "You're my new favorite superhero, kid." Meanwhile, the crowd listens to EW and disperses, though various people come up to each of you and offer words of congrats.] * TheRedcoat notes that people are still coming and turns back for more nicotine. * Mizuki 's eyebrows both raise at 'kid', before she manages a faint chuckle. [As the crowd fades away, EW turns to the lot of you. "You have all done well today. Return to our base, where we can help treat your wounds."] Just as long as we train as much as bein' out on the field. Training's useless if we're not gonna put out the fuckin' fires too. It's about time. * Mizuki looks to EW and replies, slowly, "I... had not asked earlier. You have... showers in the base, yes?" [EW nods at Mizuki.] * Horus snerks at Redcoat's response. "They like you, Red. That's a good thing." * TheRedcoat takes another long drag from her cigarette, tosses it out to smolder with the rubble on the street, then vaults herself over the railing of the subway entrance to land at the foot of the stairs. As this was the nearest one to the action, she's assuming it's pretty unpopulated. * Christian takes another drag then puts out his cigarette with his shoe.
