[October 7th. 3 AM] [Svetlana, aka The Redcoat, has been home for a few hours now after the big meeting. It was not the smoothest of introductory meetings, and as such she has spent the hours since she returned home deep in thought, pondering many things.] [Like what the fuck she's gotten herself into.] [Said train of thought is momentarily interrupted, however, as she feels a cool gust of wind through the open window of her apartment, a sure sign that Airgirl has returned home.] [Mini start] * Svetlana looks up from her laptop, where she's been looking up the Russian Eurovision potential entries while doing all of this deep thinking, and gets up from the couch, shrugging on a light jacket and pulling a pack of cigarettes out of her pocket. [Airgirl pokes her head into the window, sees Svetlana walking over, smiles brightly, and waves.] [Meanwhile, the world wonders if the aforementioned light jacket is... a Redjacket?] * Svetlana gives a small grin and nod in return as she goes over to the sill and lights up. After the first drag, she nods again and greets her friend in Turkish. "Slow night?" (It's black ;D) (It was originally red, but then some prankster came and painted it) [Airgirl nods, leaning back and reclining against the wind currents. "Ahal, the winds were calm tonight. And you?"] ...it was...interesting. You remember when I came in a few days ago? Rather, ah, not in the best of shape? ["Ahal, you were attacked, correct? By a man with daggers?"] * Svetlana nods. "I didn't tell you this at the time, but shortly after the fight, I was contacted by Solaris, of all people. She gave me a rather...intriguing offer of working on a team that will be working to figure out what is going on behind the upsurge of attacks." We had our first meeting tonight. * Svetlana frowns a little. "I am still trying to figure out how I feel about this situation." [Her eyes widen. "Solaris? Truly? That is an amazing honor, to be considered for such a venture."] ["My cousin spoke often of her, and in flattering terms I rarely heard her use for others."] * Svetlana shrugs. "I suppose. I am not particularly sure what qualified me for this, except perhaps the fact that I impressed Smasher with my..." She pauses, then finishes in Russian. "." * Svetlana snorts, but can't help but twitch the corner of her mouth in a semi-smile. [Airgirl giggles lightly. "You also did save his life, did you not? Such acts are not easily forgotten."] True, but this is a city of superheroes. I would have thought...ah, well. At any rate, I'm not quite sure what changes this will make to our schedule yet. From the sound of it, neither is Solaris. ["Perhaps, with all the superheroes gone, the time calls for those who are not?" She nods at that last part. "I understand. You've been called to a greater mission."] ...er. Yes, I suppose? Our next meeting is sometime tonight. I will be patrolling as normal at 8, but will have to divert then, and I don't know how long it will take. * Svetlana sighs. "Considering the group we have..." ["You are not comfortable with the group?"] It is early yet to tell. There are four others; half seem to be fairly young, and the other half are more... mature. Well. One of them is. The other one is a little older, but rather, em, light-hearted. Actually, you may have heard of some of these people. [Airgirl motions for Svetlana to spill it.] Mizuki, her name I heard while in Japan--a priestess. And Jacqueline Hyde, Horus, and some boy named Christian. ( EDIT that in ) [Airgirl tilts her head. "Jacqueline Hyde? The reformed mad scientist?"] Yes. She does seem very angry inside, doesn't she? ["From what little I know of her, she was active for decades before she began her attempt to redeem herself these past few years. A worthy goal, certainly."] * Svetlana shrugs again. "Well, I have little room to speak on that account. As you well know." A faint grin. [She grins back. "Just as the winds change when pressure is applied, so too do we."] * Svetlana nods. "Truth." Have you heard of any of the others? [Airgirl pauses for a moment, and thinks... before her eyes go wide, and her cheeks flush red slightly. "Did you say... Horus? *The* Horus?"] I suppose so. I had thought he was a man, but apparently no longer. [Airgirl droops slightly at that. "So there is a new Horus? I had heard the hero had become active again recently, but..."] * Svetlana nods. "A young woman." [Airgirl smiles shyly. "When I was younger, I had a poster of Horus on the wall of my room. He was quite popular in that part of the world, and... pleasant to gaze upon."] * Svetlana SNERKS. "Oh. I suppose I, ah, missed out on that, then." [She sighs dreamily. "Yes, you did."] * Svetlana blinkblinks, giggles a bit, and takes another drag off the cigarette. "I suppose that means you haven't heard anything about the new one." She seems...all right enough, if rather touchy. [Airgirl shakes her head. "I had assumed that the original had returned to activity."] Ahhh. Apparently not. Oh! Before I forget... * Svetlana roots around in her jacket, then ducks into the apartment proper for a moment, coming back a few seconds later. * Svetlana brushes the smoke that followed her inside out the window and hands Airgirl a set of keys. "I finally had those spares made. Just in case." [Airgirl tilts her head, then *beams* as she's handed the keys. "With these keys, more than doors are opened."] * Svetlana blinkblinkblinks. "...yes. But mostly doors." * Svetlana clears her throat a bit, and takes more nicotine. [Airgirl giggles lightly. "I am honored by this gesture, my friend."] * Svetlana nods a little, looking slightly to the side. "Yes, well...yes. As you said, saving lives...et cetera." * Svetlana clears her throat again, more forcefully this time. "Oh, and keep letting me know if...things come up. It might be useful, after all, although I will probably be out of position. I don't really know where it is, this location we go to. And we wouldn't want a repeat of the warehouse incident, of course. [Airgirl nods vigorously. "Of course." She smiles warmly. "Truly, I think, this is a wonderful opportunity for you. We all wait to be called, and can only hope we hear it when it comes."] * Svetlana nods as well. "If you say so. I am unsure why they picked me over you; I assume it would only be because they already had many strong heroes, and did not want to pull away more from the fight. * Svetlana tosses the cigarette butt over the fire escape railing and leans back. "If nothing else, at least I have another reason to make up excuses for dodging Ayako's poker games." They are giving us a stipend, but I don't hate my money *that* much. [And with that, the conversation devolves into talk of more mundane things as the cool October wind breezes past.] [Mini end]
